Rock cotton culture the cultivation techniques of planting plants in pre-made rock wool. Rock wool is an inorganic solid matrix composed of 60% diabase 20% limestone and 20% coke, melted at 1600℃ high temperature, sprayed into 0.005 mm fiber, and pressed into blocks to make it weigh 77~80 kg/m3.
Key points for cultivation
Rock wool has good permeability and water retention, after 1600℃ of high temperature extraction, sterile, pollution-free, so it is the main soilless culture substrate in Europe. Industrial rock wool and agricultural rock wool have different functions, and there are significant differences in raw material selection, processing technology, internal structure and so on. Therefore, the use of professional agricultural rock wool is emphasized in production and cultivation. Oppose the replacement of industrial rock wool.
Agricultural rock wool
1. Physical properties is made of about 60% basalt ,20% coke ,20% limestone and a small amount of ironmaking slag after high temperature melting, wire extraction, finally textile, compression into a specific density and then cut. In the textile process, a kind of adhesive with surface hydrophilic effect is added, which can keep the rock wool without deformation for a long time after soaking, and has good hydrophilicity. Industrial rock wool only adds general binder, which can not guarantee that it will not deform and porosity unchanged after long-term use. Without any additives, hydrophilicity is not as good as agricultural rock wool. The bulk density of agricultural rock wool is smaller than that of industrial rock wool 80~150 k/cm³, generally between 60 and 80 kg/cm³, so its porosity is higher, in which 3% volume fiber and 97% volume pore.
2. The internal structure of agricultural rock wool is made of pendulum type, the fiber is tight and wavy, and the distribution of the fiber is horizontal, vertical and three-dimensional mesh structure. Even horizontal and vertical fibers can not be stripped layer by layer. The uniform distribution of fibers is beneficial to the extension and growth of roots and the uniform growth of crops. Industrial rock wool is processed by four-roll centrifuge. The fibers are mostly horizontal and uneven, and the gap between layers is large. Root system can only grow in lamellar gap and can not spread to all rock wool growth space.
3. Chemical properties of rock wool are generally alkaline, agricultural rock wool can adjust the pH value after soaking in acid nutrient solution, but the pH value of industrial rock wool after soaking in acid nutrient solution is not adjusted much. Alkaline matrix has great toxic effect on seedling stage. The leaf edge of the seedlings planted by industrial rock wool is round, and the leaves are very small compared with the agricultural rock wool in the same period, which is a very obvious pathological weak seedling. The comparative experiment was first reported in Suzhou Xishan National Modern Greenhouse planting Park. In addition, the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences has made repeated experiments and reached the same conclusion.
