The core objective of autumn blueberry management is to encourage the plants to produce more strong shoots and branches. Only with a sufficient number of robust branches can flower buds differentiate well, laying the foundation for a bountiful harvest the following year.

If your blueberry bushes are already well-branched and growing vigorously, the next step is to shift their focus from vegetative growth to flower bud differentiation. Recommended method:
Apply a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution every 10-15 days, for 2-3 consecutive applications. Simultaneously, control watering to promote early flower bud formation.
The earlier the flower buds form, the more fully the branches age, and the more stable the flower buds become. This can effectively reduce the occurrence of premature flowering in late autumn or winter, which is a prerequisite for stable production.

If the initial management was inadequate and there are few new shoots and branches, measures should be taken now to promote the growth of new shoots and branches.

Soil Inspection
These seedlings often have soil problems as well. If conditions permit, it is recommended to change the soil as soon as possible. A simple soil mix: 60% peat moss + 40% pine bark + a suitable amount of coarse coconut husks, plus a small amount of sulfur powder to adjust the acidity.
If the soil is well-aerated and permeable but alkaline and shows signs of nutrient deficiency, you can temporarily irrigate it with citric acid solution to lower the pH value and spray it with chelated iron and other trace elements.
Blueberries prefer acidic soil, so the soil pH should be maintained between 4.0 and 5.5 to ensure nutrient absorption. Afterward, continue to maintain the soil with proper water and fertilizer.
Proper water and fertilizer management is fundamental to strong shoots and abundant branching. If the seedlings are weak and there are few shoots, you can apply fully decomposed organic fertilizer solution such as peanut bran water or rapeseed cake water every 10 days or so. The more organic fertilizer solution you apply, the more nutrients it provides to the symbiotic bacteria in the soil.
At the same time, apply potassium sulfate compound fertilizer to accelerate nutrient accumulation and promote bamboo shoot growth and stem thickening.

Watering should be controlled, following the "water when dry" principle to avoid overwatering and ensure proper root aeration, which is a prerequisite for growing healthy blueberries. Once the shoots gradually emerge and branches grow upwards, pinch off the tops promptly. New shoots will sprout soon after pinching; pinch off the tops again when the new shoots reach about 15 cm in length to significantly increase the number of branches.
Later, by using a high-phosphorus fertilizer program to promote branch aging, a large number of fruiting branches can be formed.
