Compared with adjusting light intensity, adjusting light time is easier. In the production of glass greenhouses, the light time is generally controlled according to the types of plants, and the light time can also be adjusted by intermittent supplementary light or shading. By appropriately reducing the light intensity, extending the illumination time, increasing the scattered radiation ratio and alternating intermittent or weak light, the light utilization efficiency of plants can be greatly improved.

1. Photoperiod filling lamp

For crops that are sensitive to photoperiod in glass greenhouses, when the dark time is too long and affects the growth and development of crops, artificial photoperiod should be increased. Artificial periodic light supplementation is provided as information for regulating crop growth and development, generally to promote flower bud differentiation and regulate crop flowering. So the fill light intensity is not needed, the time and intensity of fill light depends on the type of plant.

2. Photoperiod shading

The purpose of photoperiod shading is to prolong the production of crops, to ensure the demand for continuous dark periods of short-day plants in glass greenhouses, thereby regulating flower bud differentiation. Generally, black cloth or black plastic film is used to tightly cover the top and periphery of crops. During the shading period of the photoperiod, ventilation should be strengthened to prevent the high temperature and high humidity environment from causing damage to plants.
