Rock wool cultivation refers to a cultivation technique in which plants are cultivated in rock wool blocks. Rock wool is made of 60% diabase, 20% limestone, and 20% coke, melted at a high temperature of 1600 degrees, and made into 0.005mm fibers and made into blocks. The quality of the finished product is about 80 kilograms per cubic meter of inorganic solid matrix.

The role of rock wool
The air permeability and water retention of rock wool are relatively good. Due to the special processing process, the processed matrix itself is sterile and pollution-free. This matrix is very commonly used in Europe. However, there are two kinds of rock wool, one is for industrial use and the other is for agricultural use, which are different from raw materials to structures. Agricultural special rock wool should be used in agricultural cultivation.

During the processing of rock wool, in order to ensure that it will not deform after entering the water, an adhesive will be added. The adhesive used for agricultural rock wool is a good hydrophilic adhesive, which can prevent deformation after long-term immersion in water, and the agricultural rock wool The porosity is higher than that of industrial rock wool, which is more suitable for the growth of crop roots.

Secondly, the arrangement of industrial rock wool and agricultural rock wool fibers is different. The structure of industrial rock wool is composed of multiple layers of compact rock wool, and the root growth space is small. Agricultural rock wool is in a three-dimensional network shape, and the root system of crops can grow freely without restriction, and the utilization rate of water and nutrients is higher.
Because the chemical properties of rock wool are alkaline, and the alkaline substrate has an adverse effect on the seedlings, the medicinal effect of the leaves of the crops cultivated with alkaline rock wool is obviously weak. Therefore, it is necessary to soak in acidic nutrient solution to neutralize the PH value. However, the PH value of industrial rock wool can be adjusted very little. After repeated tests, the crops grown in agricultural rock wool grow better.

The commercialized agricultural rock wool has been cut before leaving the factory, and it becomes rock wool blocks of different sizes. There are holes in the middle of the nursery block for easy sowing, and there is a layer of PVC around it to prevent excessive water evaporation and chaotic root growth. The growth strip is wrapped with a layer of black and white film to prevent water evaporation and play a role in heat preservation, and can also prevent the growth of algae and bacteria.

The price of agricultural rock wool is higher than that of industrial rock wool, but combining the above factors and based on the experience summed up in actual production, the income of industrial rock wool is far lower than that of rock wool for agricultural cultivation. It is a good thing to reduce costs, but we should not be blind.

The core technologies in rock wool planting are Water Management and Nutrition Management, which are a set of precise management technologies, through which the growth of roots can be effectively controlled, and the balance between plant vegetative growth and reproductive growth can be achieved. To achieve the purpose of controlling harvest time and yield
